Community Police Academy
The Academy is a program put on by BGPD for over 20 years, which shows citizens an inside perspective into what it really takes to be in law enforcement. Over the course of 10 weeks, on Tuesdays, community members can take a personal tour of how law enforcement works. The class meets for two hours, one night a week, and dinner is included.
Community members will hear from officers from different department assignments and details on their specific job duties. They will have the opportunity to drive a police cruiser, ride along with an officer, and fingerprint while learning how officers investigate crime scenes. These are just a few events the CPA members can participate in.
